Two weeks after graduating from college, I bought a one way ticket (on AirTran, no less) from Kansas to New York to start my career as a writer. I slept on a couch in Bushwick, in a loft with no mirror, then upgraded to a van seat (being used as a couch) in Williamsburg. At the first industry event I attended, someone mistook me for a caterer and complimented me on the snacks.
And yet, somehow, it all worked out.
In the time since, I have flown first class to Costa Rica to try out new shampoo, lounged poolside with Jenna Jameson in Fiji, sipped champagne with Wu-Tang, made flower arrangements with Elle Fanning, gotten a seven-hour massage, gone rock climbing with Hilary Duff, met the real Lisa Frank, and helped a supermodel pick up dog poop (that detail was edited out of the final story).
I have been trusted to be "the voice" for billion-dollar brands. My words have appeared on taxi-toppers, billboards, subway turnstiles, marketing emails, catalogs, Instagram captions, magazine advertisements, brand documents, product copy, pencils, buttons, stickers, T-shirts, underwear, been several stories tall in Soho (with a pic of Justin Bieber in his underwear), plastered all over Union Square, uttered by Kendall Jenner, and more.
I have written New York Times bestsellers, celebrity tell-alls, memoirs, how-tos, and beauty bibles.
I have worked with Cosmopolitan, NYLON, Elle, Women's Health, Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal, Vans, Calvin Klein, Shape, Time Out New York, Monster Children, Russh, Oyster, The Fader, NME, H&M, Smith Journal, Gather Journal, KnitWit, Popular, Style.com, Nike, Lively, and more.
My first YA novel, The Babysitters Coven, is out now.
